Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.

John Eric Douglas, 30, of Creston, OH, unexpectedly passed with his beloved cousin Robby John Douglas, Thursday, October 12, 2017. John lived life to the fullest and was a friend to all. He loved music, golf, cars, four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, and being in the great outdoors. John loved making people laugh.  He was a great fan of Ohio and West Virginia sport teams, found joy spending time with his family and friends in wild, wonderful West Virginia, his home of birth and resting place.

John graduated from Norwayne High School.  He was a maintenance technician for ten years with Ebner Furnace and worked with Star Crane. Most recently he started his own company, Big J. Johnson Repairs.

John will be remembered as a loving brother, son, cousin, nephew, and amazing father. His biggest joy in life was his children, Liliana Mae and Jaxon Eric. In addition to his children, he is survived by his father and mother, William “Bub” and Jane Douglas; brothers, Will and Adam; grandmother, Gaynell Nelson Hill, his first love and children’s mother Christine Degler; girlfriend, Ashley Ginther; and many loving uncles, aunts, nephew, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Laura Douglas, Dudley Fox Nelson, and Sam C. Hill; Uncles Gary Douglas, Jeff Butler, Tom Duffield, Ralph Flinn and Aunt Ginny Flinn.

A funeral service was held Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, with Minister Brent Wiley officiating.  Burial followed at Douglas Cemetery, Ivydale.

Friends may gather with family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Education Fund for John Douglas children, contact Jane Douglas.

On-line condolences may be sent to the family at www.carlwilsonfuneralhome.com. Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Douglas family.
