Downstream Strategies, in partnership with the Elk River Trails Foundation and the Braxton County Development Authority, is beginning a comprehensive analysis and feasibility study for economic development opportunities in communities near the Elk River Trail System. The project team is hosting a public meeting, in conjunction with the WVU-Extension Service and the Town of Clay, on Tuesday, Apr. 5, at 5:30 p.m., as part of the Town Council meeting, to introduce community members and other interested stakeholders to the project and gain a better understanding of community interests. The goal of this project is to identify actions and strategies to ensure that proposed tourism developments maximize the economic benefits of visitor spending by creating thoughtful connections between communities, their businesses, and the visitors to the Elk River Trail System.
