The Clay Town Council met for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the water plant. The Town Council members listened to guest speakers from Potesta and from the Blue Knob Water Plant Project. Potesta gave a presentation on how to update the water plant systems to try and prevent situations like the MCHM spill that happened at Freedom Industries back in 2014. Potesta, Engineers and Environmental consultants, said that a Buffalo Creek Back Up system would be the best option to keep a steady flow of water if the Elk River becomes unavailable for any reason. Potesta also proposes an early warning monitoring system and a leak detection system. The Blue Knob Water Plant Project gave an update of information on progress for the council members.
The meeting then progressed into its regular monthly agenda with the approval of the previous minutes and approval for the payment of bills and payroll. The meeting agenda was short; updates were discussed that will be made to the town before the Golden Delicious Apple Festival arrives. Those changes include cleaning out ditches, the courthouse and trimming of the bushes to make everything look nice. The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 6, at 6:00pm.IMG_5555 is Town Council Members
