During the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, Superintendent Kenneth Tanner and other members of the board presented this years retirees with a plaque of recognition. First to be recognized was Greg Legg, school bus driver of 27 years. Mr. Legg was a dedicated bus driver and always put the well-being of the children on his bus in his best interest. Next was Dr. William Mann, French teacher at Clay County High School. Dr. Mann has been employed with Clay County Schools for 25 years, before that he taught in Webster County.
Mr. Danny Fitzwater, who put in 24 years of service, is also retiring. Mr. Fitzwater was an excellent, talented, and well respected teacher. Danny taught at Valley Fork Elementary and has currently been working at Big Otter Elementary. Mrs. Kathryn Claytor, who taught at Clay County Middle School and currently at Big Otter Elementary, is retiring after 21 wonderful years of teaching for Clay County Schools.
Last, but certainly not least, Dr. R. B. Legg is retiring after almost 29 years of service to Clay County Schools. Dr. Legg will continue to work at his family’s dentist office and volunteering as a tutor at the high school.
Whether it was a school bus driver, a teacher or a board member, all of the retirees have dedicated themselves to their job and put the best interest of the children first. They will all certainly be missed in the school system by students, families of the students and their fellow staff.
