Jay Jones

Last week, the Clay County Free Press office received a report from an individual about items being stolen from the storage units in Valley Fork.

The individual was wanting to request any information on the whereabouts of the stolen items earlier in the week.

Then, on Thursday, Feb. 2, Clay Deputies received a tip from a resident in Two Run about stolen goods being hidden at a nearby residence.

Cheryl Dawson

After an investigation and deputies finding the stolen items, Jay Jones and Cheryl Dawson were arrested for breaking into and stealing from more than a dozen storage units.

Both Jones and Dawson are charged with grand larceny and breaking and entering and each are being held at Central Regional Jail on an $80,000 bond.

Information was gathered from the Clay County Sheriff’s office.
