In The Mail Box ..
Dear Joe,
Where were you last Saturday night? I waited and waited and you didn’t show. Man, was K— furious when I finally got a car and arrived at her home. I’m still in the dog house ,and our long standing friendship may be in jeopardy. Seriously though, I hope this doesn’t happen the night of the prom. Are you and J— still planning to be our guests?
Mmmm-m-m-m-m smell those narcissus, hyacinth, and iris’ don’t they smell sweet. Say, have you heard about the Easter dance that we had? Boy, did every one look nice in those pastel colors. With all those colors shining so bright it looked like a ball at an aristocrats mansion, and the expense was like one too.
In journalism class we are sitting here thinking of all the ideas we have put in the school paper this year. Perhaps, that is why this letter sounds as it does. You should know what it is like to have this experience, since you were working on the West-Side Review last year in your journalism class.
We have just one more period to make our grade for this second semester. Some students will be surprised when some of their favorite teachers give them the grade they earned instead of the grade they thought the teacher owed them for running an errand to the “Y” or some other short distance.
Well I, guess you heard of the assembly the Junior Class put on for the entertainment of the student body at Widen High. Some of the students told the cast that it was a real nice assembly, but there were many things that could have been improved.

Dear Sally,
The sadest but most exciting time of year for a senior is fast approaching. Our time for corresponding is coming to a close. It really scares me to think I have to make my own living now. Everyone has big plans; I do too. Wonder if any of them will come to pass? I guess you have to work at it.
The juniors really displayed their talents last week in the assembly. The seniors wish to thank them for the lovely going away gifts. One thing went wrong though, Mrs. Griffith’s isn’t working right
Easter is drawing near, girls, and I can’t wait to see all the new dresses the girls will be wearing. My dress is a blue sheath with a blue flowered coat that goes over the dress. My shoes are blue pumps with flowers in them to match the coat. I hope everyone remembers to attend church.
I’ll tell you a little secret. The seniors are planning a “Sneak Day” real soon. I can hardly wait. I can’t tell you when or where we are going, but you’ll find out soon enough.
I read in the paper the other day about a man from Charleston seeing a flying saucer. You know. there must be something to what all these people see. Of course, there is a scientific explanation for it, but it does make you wonder. It could happen, you know.
Since this might be our last letter to each other, I want to tell you I enjoyed corresponding with you. I hope this isn’t the last letter. Bye, I’ll see you around.
