The Steorts family formally of Heartland, enjoyed and week at their “Home Place” visiting neighbors, realities and friends from many states who were in Clay for the 40th Golden Delicious Apple Festival week of activities. They enjoyed delicious home cooked meals at Carols Restaurant at Maysel and friendly service. They also visited with many friends there like Rozella and Bobby Stover, Jim Moore Jerry and Ellen Sizemore, Cindy and Henry Mullins, Elizabeth Smith Miller, Carmel and Emma Jean Morris, Jimmy Morris, Ed Rhodes and Emma Jean, Kathryn and WD Rogers, Steve and Judy Casey and Charla Casey, as well as our many more former Clay High classmates.
The family members present were  Robert and Gladys Steorts and Pamela Centers from Virginia; Clyde and Patricia Casey from Florida; Judy Shoemaker from Alabama; Barbara Will from Florida; Kevin West from Ohio, Greg West from Florida and Bertie Legg from Kentucky.
A dinner was enjoyed with Kay and Rex Whiterman at Union Mission in Charleston. Just being home along the Elk River where they grew up is always special, sharing many memories of fishing, swimming and camping along the river and hiking over the Clay County Hills of their home.
Bertie Legg (KY)
