Free diabetes education throughout WV during Diabetes Awareness Month

America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. has announced a partnership with Everyone with Diabetes Counts (EDC) to offer free diabetes education classes throughout West Virginia during National Diabetes Awareness month. The classes with be offered in Clay County as well as Boone, Braxton, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane, Summers, Wayne, Webster and Wyoming.
The WV Medical Institute will coordinate the classes to help participants learn to control their diabetes. Nurses and community health workers will cover topics that include managing several aspects of diabetes, from nutrition and exercise to monitoring health through tests. The campaign theme is “Control your diabetes. Change your life.”
Murphy will appear on billboards, record public service announcements and host information displays at his holiday concerts throughout the state, all promoting diabetes education. Watch for details of the upcoming class in the Clay County Free Press.
