Piggly WiggleyYou may be surprised to find bare shelves, coolers and freezers if you travel to Clay County’s only grocery store.  For weeks, the inventory of Piggly Wiggly has been slowly dwindling and seemingly not replaced.  Concerned shoppers began to realize that the business may be struggling and that the doors of the store may soon be closing.  Word came this weekend that store manager, Drema Clifton will no longer be over the store and that the shelves will not be restocked at this time.  As of now, the store remains open and plans to sell out what goods are currently in stock.

Word has circulated of a new franchise and owner coming to town, but no official word has been given.  With the threat of the store’s closing looming overhead, many citizens are concerned.  Many residents of the county have no way to travel out of town to purchase fresh meats and vegetables and will be greatly affected by the store’s closing.
