The Panther baseball team has been on a triathlon of sorts this past week as they played three games. In their last 10 attempts on the diamond, the Panther baseball team has gone 4-6. The gas ran out of the tank this past week, however, when Midland Trail, Scott and Wayne were on the chopping block. Midland Trail was on Panther turf on senior night as the Panthers said farewell to four seniors who made them a team to reckon with – Landon Delwarte, James Gross, Jaxon Brown and Eli Metheney.
The Panthers sent Joel Elliott to the mound, and the Patriots rocked him for two runs to get the game started. The Panthers were getting runners on the dance floor but couldn’t finish the dip, leaving runners stranded. In the 4th inning the Patriots sealed the deal, getting five more runs in the 4th inning. The game ended Panthers 2, Patriots 7. Next up was the Skyhawks from Scott. The Skyhawks pitchers pretty much shut down the bats of the Panthers, and when the game was over it was Panthers 0, Skyhawks 6. With two losses under their belts, the Panthers had one more game against Wayne County.
This would be the Panthers come back game scoring two runs in the 2nd inning. The Pioneers couldn’t get the pitching figured out well enough to ever take the lead, and the Panthers won the game 3-1.
The Panthers have three more games in regular season with two of them being at home against South Charleston on Tuesday night and Nicholas on Wednesday night. Come out and support the Panthers in their final games of the season. Go Panthers!
