
The third annual Highway Cleanup Days, held on April 22 and 23, was another successful cleanup project. Over all we had 47 volunteers that participated in the cleanup. Thanks to all who participated in any way on this project. Thanks to the students of Clay County High School and all volunteers.
Sponsors for this project included the Clay County Board of Education, Mr. Dobbins for supplying the school busses and bus drivers; the Clay Health Department Angela Brown, for supplying first aid kits and gloves; the Clay Family Support Center, Donna Salisbury for supplying drinks and snacks; Professor Melody Wilkinson of Georgetown University for funding our t-shirts; CMI 2 Civil Military Innovations crew, Trey Corwell, Rail Explorers for supplying snacks; Marlene Lewis, Mayor Town of Clay and employees for picking up all the trash after the cleanup; Clay DOH for supplying all the vests, pickers, bags and gloves; and the Clay Solid Waste Authority for supplying our lunches.
There were 287 bags of trash, two plastic totes and 12 tires collected. Thank you all for another successful cleanup!
