front page picThe Lady Panther softball team soundly defended their home turf this past week against the Greater Beckley Area  and Midland Trail teams.   The Ladies brought out the whipping sticks in this double header and racked up 31 points in the two games with final scores of Lady Panthers 14, Greater Beckley 6 and Lady Panthers 17, Midland Trail 11.  Destiny Williams was not only the winning pitcher in all four games but also helped with the hickory as well, going 4-4 against Greater Beckley.  In these two games, Morgan Carmean, Brooklyn Coleman, Sarah Boggs and McKenzie Burford also had big results for the Lady Panthers.  Brooklyn Coleman went 3-4 and 2-3 and totaled 6 RBI’s.  Morgan Carmean went 2-3 with a double.  Sarah Boggs went big against Midland Trail going 3-3.  Mackenzie Burford was 2-2 and had three stolen bases and scored three runs.   The Lady Panthers then matched bats with Webster County in a double header and once again brought their A game to the diamond.  They outscored Webster 31-13 in two games with some outstanding at bats and base running.  Carlie Roat crossed home four  times in the first game with some good base running.  Sarah Boggs once again brought some big lumber again to the plate and delivered.   Alisha Angel went 2-3 and had three RBI’s.   The Ladies proved this week that they are going to give it all they’ve got to win.  These wins brought their record to 5-6 for the season thus far.

They will have some tough games against defending state champions Herbert Hoover and Roane County this week.  The Lady Panthers are in one of the toughest brackets in WV high school softball and are getting better and better as the season moves on.  Get out this week and catch a game; they will play every night this week making up games that were cancelled due to weather conditions.
