Jordan Vaughn, the 13 year old son of bobby and Amanda Vaughn of Valley Fork has successfully completed his Eagle Scout project that is required of each Life Scout before they can earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts.

When considering a project, Jordan wanted to do something that would benefit the kids in his community, specifically the Kiddie Patch Daycare. The daycare, which is located at the old Valley Fork Elementary School, had no playground equipment for the kids that attended there. As his Eagle Scout project, Jordan decided to provide them with a playground.

After obtaining all necessary approvals, he began the massive job of fund raising. His initial goal was to raise $25000 in donations to buy and install a wooden playground set. Mid-way through his fund-raising efforts, he was informed that they could not accept a wooden set, so he had to change his plan. After many hours of fundraising he was able to obtain over $4,000 in donations from generous people throughout our community and near-by to purchase and install playground equipment that was acceptable. Some gave a little, some gave a lot, and many gave hours of their time to help install the playground. It is finally in place of the children to enjoy, thanks to the help and support of family, friends, community, parents and members of Boy Scout Troop 123.

Donors Include Allen Ramsey, David Pierson, Mike & Kathy Boggs, Gary Keen, David Walker, Pleasant Dale Church, Teresa Lane, Clint Salyers, Andy Adkins, Little Country Feed Store, Bob & Betty Davis, Jim Samples, Denny & Carol Payne, Scott (C&O Motors), Greg Fitzwater, Ron (C&O Motors), Mike & Gayle Asbury, David & Marie Hanshaw, Bubbs & Carrie Smith, Cheryl White, Greg Thorne, Garrett Samples, Frank Massey, Dr. Larry Kalaskey, Shamblin Stone, Ginos, Pepsi, Piggly Wiggly, Andy Bragg, Rocky Boggs, Sharon Boggs, Amanda Vaughn, Scott Boggs, Kevin Duffy, Frank Young, Tommy Young, Alex Young, Razz Sontos, Go-Mart, Kaylee Vaughn, Bowen Dental, 84 Lumber, Parents And Scouts Of Boy Scout Troop 123, King’s Wrecker, Jeremy Carter, Jerry Linkinogger, Dr. Sandy Whittington, Cunningham Motors, ACCAD, Jeanie Davis, WV Land Farm & Home Real TV, Clay County Bank, Wayne King, Eric & Michelle Frame, Frank & Connie Kerr, Dr. Gilbert Goliath, Lifetite Metal, Dr. Kenneth Dolan, Cunningham Energy, Dr. Hubbard, Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Larry Schoonover, Reed Brothers, Arlene Tucker, Patch Pre-School Fundraiser, Natalie Whittington, Triplett Trucking, Legg’s Welding.
