Claire Wayne, graduate of Clay County High School, won first place in the 2016 WVMBA Race Series. The West Virginia Mountain Bike Association sanctions various types of bike races in multiple classes. Wayne won first place in the Beginner Women Open Class in cross country events. She completed seven races, with three first place finishes, three second place, and one third. Wayne currently lives in Fairmont, where she is working for NASA and completing a degree in music from West Virginia University.
