The CCMS track team participated in the CWVAC Tournament this past week. It was probably one of the toughest matches of the season as all the best came out to run. The Mustang boys’ team place third overall while the girls also placed third. Taking top honors was Tilyr Bird, winning conference champion in the 100 meter hurdles.
The 4×200 relay team was also conference champions. Marissa Atha was conference champion in the 3200 meter run and the girls’ shuttle hurdle team took second. Congratulations to these runners and the team as a whole for qualifying nine athletes for the first ever state track tournament for middle school teams which will be held at Huntington High School, May 16th. The first events start at 4:30 PM.
Both the girls and the boys shuttle hurdle teams qualified as well as Jackson Stricker in the pole vault, Cole Boggs in the high jump, Tilyr Bird in the 100 meter hurdles and Natalie Tanner in the high jump. Good luck to all the athletes. The CCHS track team will compete at Hoover on Wednesday evening to see who will qualify for the state competition.
