The CCMS Mustangs were on the road against Braxton Middle last Thursday night. The game was a tough one to lose for the Mustangs, to say the least. The running game of Braxton Middle was the piece of the pie that kept the Mustangs guessing what flavor it was; however, the Mustang offense got the ball moving toward the goal line much quicker than the Knights. Torin Shirey broke loose from the pack and was stomping Knights in the dirt as he made his way to the end zone. He took the run to the house seemingly for the first TD for the Mustangs. However, a mistaken blow by the ref’s whistle on the sideline, assuming he was going out of bounds and killed the play at the 31-yard line. Clearly, Shirey didn’t go out of bounds, but the team was penalized nonetheless, and the TD was called back.

It truly is the rule that when a whistle is blown whether they blow on purpose or sneeze and it blows, the play is dead regardless of the TD or any outcome of the play. Some of the rules need a second look in all fairness. What’s next, blowing whistles like It truly is the rule that when a whistle is blown whether they blow on purpose or sneeze and it blows the play is dead regardless of the TD or any outcome of the play. Some of the rules need a second look in all fairness. What’s next, blowing whistles like speculators on global financial exchanges?

Nevertheless, the Mustangs plowed on getting numbers on the board. At the beginning of the third quarter, they were ahead of the Knights 12-6, but by the end of the 3rd quarter the Knights went ahead of the Mustangs 12-14 getting the extra points and never looked back.

The Knights iced the cake by adding one more TD to beat the Mustangs 20-12. The Mustangs hope to be back to their glory days next week as they work out the bugs and hopefully suffer no loose whistles. Next week the Mustangs will be on the road once again at Ravenswood and back home against Wahama on Oct 15th. Go Mustangs!!? Nevertheless, the Mustangs plowed on getting numbers on the board.
