The Lady Mustangs are still smoking the diamonds, going 3 and 2 for the season so far. The Lady Mustangs opened the week with a game against Midland Trail. This game is one of those games you just know is going to be all out, and it did not disappoint the fans a bit. With a ton of truly questionable calls, it looked as though the Lady Mustangs only had a pair of deuces to bet with no draws left. In the first part of the game, it looked like the Lady Mustangs would hold their own against Midland Trail until the questionable calls surfaced. The Lady Mustangs tried to go bat for bat but just couldn’t get the bats to swing their way. Trail scored early in the game and didn’t look back. In the end it was Trail over the Lady Mustangs 11-0.
One thing the Lady Mustangs hate the taste of is losing, and they got their taste buds back against Braxton who came to town looking to have horse meat for lunch. The Lady Knights didn’t know what hit them as the Lady Mustangs sent Rockin’ Roxy Schoolcraft to the mound to blow out the candles on the Knights. Roxy was devastating on the Lady Knights as the English she was pitching couldn’t be translated by the Lady Knights. Lady Mustangs got busy on defense and allowed just two runs to cross the plate. The Lady Mustangs went to work putting
Lady Knight notches on their bats, and Laney Sears jacked an inside the park home run in the game as she flew the bases staying ahead of the Lady Knight throws. When the dust settled, it was the Lady Mustangs over the Lady Knights by the score of 10-2. Weather permitting, the
Lady Mustangs will be on the road Monday night against Summersville and back home on April 9th against George Washington. Softball is a game full of bursts of action and intense, edgy moments. If you want to see this for yourself, get to one of the Lady Mustangs softball games; they have already kicked some butt, and the season has just got underway.
