The Clay County Panthers sought victory this weekend during the playoffs. The A and B teams played at Frontier High in Ohio. B team started out with a strong defensive effort, causing turnovers and capitalizing with touchdowns, holding the Tyler County knights scoreless in the first half. The mighty Panther offense picked things up and the rout was on. A total team effort led to a 31-0 Panther victory. Next up was the A-team facing off against the Rebels of Ritchie Co. The Rebs drew first blood pounding the ball inside to go up by 6. The panther defense tightened up and held them at 6 through halftime. The game went back and forth till the Panthers broke a huge run resulting in a touchdown to tie the score at 6 to 6. With 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter the Rebs scored again to take the lead and hold on to the victory 25-6 over the Panthers.
The Panthers would like to thank all the fans who wore the blue and gold and made the long trip to Ohio to cheer them on.  On Sunday, the Panther C team traveled to Calhoun Co. for their first round playoff game facing the Knights of Tyler Co. The Knights got on the board first scoring the first two touchdowns. But the panthers refused to back down and went on the attack coming back to tie the contest, sending the game into overtime. The Knights got the ball first but were stopped 4 times. The Panthers took the field and in true Panther fashion dug in and punched it in for the victory. 19-13. Next up for the B-team, a trip to Doddridge Co. And for the C-team, a trip to Wirt Co. A special thank you to all our Panther Cheer Leaders who were loud and proud and cheered the boys to victory.
