By Lee Roy Anderson

Being born-again is more than performing good works. Being born-again is more than performing good works or great deeds. People seem to think they can obtain some kind of do-it-yourself kit to get them to glory. This is not so.

Salvation is a gift of God and is received by faith apart from works. However, let me point out when you receive Christ your life will then manifest good works which the divine nature of Christ within you produces. See 2 Peter 1:4.

This may sound like a strange statement but man must be religious. The world does not satisfy him so he must worship something. This is part of his nature. Man may worship an idol. Man may worship the rising sun. Many worship animals. Some think their ancestors have come back to this earth in the form of an animal.

The Apostle Paul preached in the city of Athens where the great learned philosophers had lived. I don’t know that we have ever had another Aristotle, Socrates or Plato. All of these great philosophers had lived before Paul’s day, worshipping all kinds of philosophies, religions, and will worship something. Do-it-yourself kit.

You can be religious and be lost. Review acts 17:22-25. In 44th chapter of Isaiah, where he pictures a man that went out and started cutting the trees. He was an idol worshipper. Do-it-yourself kit. He cut down part of the wood and built a fire to keep himself warm. He took another part of the wood and cooked himself a meal to satisfy his hungry appetite. Then, the Bible says, he took the residue that was left over and made himself a God.

You see, man had to worship something. Do-it-yourself kits, or made religions of this world, will not satisfy the hungry soul. You cannot satisfy the soul with a bottle, a drug needle or by losing yourself to lust.

That is why Isaiah said, wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labour for that which not, Isaiah 55:2-3? Thank God I am glad that we can eat of the bread from Heaven today that will satisfy our hungry soul.

Yes you can get a meal at God’s table. You can be satisfied.
