1st Corinthians 12 (Part 2)

Last week we began looking at a very special message to the Church concerning the gifts of the Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10. We looked at the “word of wisdom”. Today we will look at the “word of knowledge”. The word of knowledge is another supernatural gift operated by the Holy Spirit through a person of His choosing.

The word of knowledge is the speaking forth of certain knowledge or information that the speaker would not of themselves know. It is word given by the Sprit of God. Suppose you had been having a severe pain in your left hip and it was causing you much pain. It had been going on for 3 weeks. You had told absolutely no one. You were the only one aware of the situation. Then, in church someone had a word for you that they believed was from God. Maybe they didn’t address you personally but said “there is someone here who has been having a severe pain in your left hip. You have had that pain for 3 weeks and have told absolutely no one. You know that person had no way of knowing about your situation unless God revealed it to them. God is going to heal you.

That is a manifestation of the gift of word of knowledge operated by the Spirit of God through whomsoever He would choose for you. It is supernatural and not only would it bless the person

who had the pain but the whole assembly should be blessed because it was a manifestation of the love of God and a manifestation of the gift of the word of knowledge.

Remember, it is a gift of God and not something earned. It is a manifestation of the Spirit of God. It is proof that God is in the house. This gift of the Spirit of God, as is all the gifts listed in these verses, for the edification of the body of Christ.

Some say God doesn’t do that any more. Where does the Bible say that? It doesn’t. God does not change (Mal. 3:6). If God does not change, who did?

It was us. If we doubt, reject or choose to be ignorant of His word, then, we will probably not see a manifestation thereof. He told us to live by faith and that faith must be in Him and His word. God is not willing for anyone to go to hell but many are. Why? They don’t believe so they don’t receive. It is a choice we make. Study God’s word for yourself and see what He says.
