Violet Murphy

Violet Murphy, 92, of Moorefork, entered into rest Monday, October 30, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Born February 28, 1923 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Gay and Maud Metheney. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Murphy; son, Dana Murphy; sister, Sylvia Butler; brothers, Tedro  and Russell Metheney.

Violet and her late husband Oscar were members of the Otter Vale Church for over 50 years, she taught Sunday school class and card class for over 40 years. They loved going to church and serving the Lord.

Violet is survived by her sons, Charles Murphy and Robert (Bob) Murphy of Duck; sisters, Opal Rogers of Creston, OH., Virginia Cook of Ivydale; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren.

AA funeral service was held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 with Minister Rick Samms officiating. Burial followed in Moorefork Cemetery, Moorefork.
