Ronnie Allen Drake

Ivydale — Ronnie Allen Drake, 64, of Ivydale, entered into rest Wednesday, June 14, 2017, after a short illness.

Born June 28, 1952, he was the son of the late Lloyd “Johnny” and Frances (Queen) Drake.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Faye.

He was in the Navy from 1971-1973 aboard the USS Trenton; he was a retired welder, attended Big Otter Baptist Church, enjoyed playing the lottery, attending estate sales, playing his guitar and bluegrass music.

Ronnie is survived by his children, Heather (Bruce) Watts of Joshua, TX, and Lloyd R. “Russ” (Beth) Drake of Maysville, WV; step-children, Darrell (Becky) Adkins of Dille, Alicia Adkins of Ivydale and Joanne Adkins of Dille; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren;  sister, Llyn Drake of Ivydale; brothers, James “Jim” (Karen) Drake of Jamestown, PA, and Bob Drake of Ivydale.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with minister Danny Richardson officiating. Burial was in Friend Cemetery, Ivydale.

Friends gathered with family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Margaret Drake for her loving care.
