Gauley Bridge, WV – Kelly Herman Skaggs, 87, of Gauley Bridge, entered into rest January 29, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House.

Born on August 1, 1926, in Gauley Bridge, he was the son of the late Hiram Sawyer and Ida Mae Hogg Skaggs.

He retired from Union Carbide (Alloy Plant) after 32 years as a Powerhouse Mechanic and Welder and was a member of Lover’s Leap Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth, of Gauley Bridge; children, Saundra Rosewell, and husband, Wayne, of Daniels, WV, Robert Kelly Skaggs, and wife, Kimberly, of Conway, SC; Mark Skaggs, and wife, Jean, of Fayetteville, Cody Skaggs and wife, Sharon, of Shallotte, NC, and Theresa Cooper and husband, Phillip, of Gauley Bridge; sister, Tina Brown of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was 1 pm Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Pastor Ron George officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Friends called from 5 to 7 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. On-line condolences may be sent to the family at www.carlwilsonfuneralhome.com.
