John Paul Rogers, 57, of Dog Run, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2021.

He truly loved the Lord and was never hesitant to tell you about Jesus or invite someone to church. He wanted to see everyone saved and serving the Lord. He was a longtime member and deacon at New Antioch Baptist Church.

He worked at Clay Foodland for 34 years, where he never knew a stranger. He started working at Clay Board of Education as a bus driver in 2003 and later transitioned into the bus garage as a mechanic.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Bobby Rogers and father-in-law, Bubby Runion, and many other relatives he loved dearly.

He is survived by the love of his life, his soulmate Carolyn; his pride and joys John Boy (Samantha) Rogers and Jessica (Shawn) Huffman; and his biggest blessings, his grandchildren Bobby, Brandon, Skylar, Bentlee, Jaylee, and Baylee. He is also survived by his mother, Brenda Kyle; sisters Timberly (Corky) Hamrick, Tammy (Robin Sizemore); brother William (Julie) Rogers; mother-in-law Louise Runion; and many brother and sister in laws, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was a wonderful husband, dad, papaw, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, co-worker, and person in general. He always knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face. He loved with his whole heart and will be missed tremendously.

Visitation was held November 18, 2021 at Wilson Smith Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service was held November 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with burial following at the Asbury-Rogers Cemetery Dog Run.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.carlwilsonfuneralhome.com.

Wilson Smith is honored to be serving the Rogers family.
