Lizemores, WV – Homer S. Morton, 83, of Lizemores, departed this life on February 1, 2016.
He was the last surviving of 8 children born to Fred and Nona Keeney Morton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Homer was retired from Valley Camp Coal and Morton Trucking. He was a member of Belle Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Walker Morton, Son: Kenneth (Donna) Morton of Lizemores; Daughters; Cindy (Eddie) Burns of Scott Depot, and Patricia (Tim) Neal of Mt. Nebo. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday February 4, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge. With Gary Walker and Shane Wynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Stone Cemetary, Lizemores. Visitors may call Wednesday 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice for their excellent care of Mr. Morton.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Dr., Charleston, WV 25311.
