Helen Jean Nichols
Oakboro, NC- Helen Jean Nichols, 84, of Oakboro, NC, formerly of Dixie, Fayette County, died Monday, May 18, 2015, after a short illness.
Born on February 8, 1931, in Clay County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Bolton and Nora Walker Matheney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Arley H. Nichols; sisters, Lilly Bell Carter and Anna May Light, and brother, James Matheney.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ida Missionary Baptist Church, Bentree, WV.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Moore of Barboursville, Linda Hamm of Dixie, and Rebecca Valentine of Stanfield, NC; sons, Alan Nichols of Chelyan and Timothy Nichols of Oakboro, NC; sisters, Doris Mullins of Elkview and Pauline Taylor of Dixie; brother, Tom Matheney of Lake City, FL; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
Graveside service was 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, with Reverend Danny Sears officiating. There was no visitation.
