The Captain of the Heavenly Fleet has called this sailor, EN1 USN RET Frank Louis Cain, Home at the age of 91.  Born to Alfred C. and Bertha May Cain (Williams), December 16, 1926, in Widen, WV, Frank entered the Navy to serve as an Engineman August 8, 1944.  While serving his country, he met the love of his life, Laura “Marie” Wolf in San Francisco, California and married her June 30, 1955 and accepted the position of step dad to Marie’s six children, then moved to Petaluma in 1957.   In 1959 the Navy moved the family, with the addition of two more children, to Port Hueneme, CA.  In 1964 the family moved to Oxnard, CA after the birth of child number nine, where Frank and Marie continued to reside until they were called Home.

Frank leaves behind his sons, Frank Leroy Cain (Debbie) of Escondido, CA and William “Bill” Cain (Cindy) of Gobles, MI; daughter, Benay Cain (Beth Schebler); step sons, John “Ron” George of Moore, ID, Don Cain (Carolyn) of Moore, ID, Jerry George of Meiners Oak, CA, and Perry George of Moore, ID; step daughters Linda Calvert (Glenn) of Nampa, ID, and Juanita Booth of Clarkston, WA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and  nephews; and a very special extended family member Shannon Dybvig.  He has reunited with his parents, Alfred C. Cain, Bertha Williams; wife, Laura “Marie” Cain, brothers, Alford Cain, John Cain and Ernest Cain; and sisters, Betty Wilmoth and Ann Glasson.

Frank retired from the Navy in 1964 and began his civilian career in Building Maintenance, specializing in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.  He then retired in 1991 from Schlumberger as Lead Building Maintenance.  He was an avid bowler in various bowling leagues throughout the community and enjoyed participating in tournaments.  His passion was developing his family tree, learning about his ancestry and connecting with relatives he discovered along the way.

Special thank you from the family goes out to the wonderful nurses at Dignity Health Saint John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital and to the Assisted Health Care Hospice Team who were always so caring and supportive of not only our loved one, but to the family as well.

Visitation was Sunday, April 22, 2018. Celebration of Life, officiated by Pastor Ron Dybvig, was Monday, April 23, 2018, with graveside services and reception following.

Arrangements are under the direction of Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Memorial Park & Crematory, 2052 Howard St, Camarillo, CA  93012.
