Betty Lea Chapman

Betty Lea Chapman, 80, of Ivydale, passed away September 7, 2017 at CAMC General Division after a year-long battle with health issues.

She was born October 23, 1936 in Clay County, and was a daughter of the late Jesse and Bonnie Hamric.

She was retired from the Fayette County Board of Education and was a 50 year member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troxel D. Chapman; grandson, Tommy Davis III; brothers, Dana and Jesse Hamric.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sherree Davis; granddaughter, Jessica McDowell; great grandchildren, Jenna Fowler and Nicholas Ruiz; sister, Alice O”Dell; special nieces, Patricia Chapman and Betsy Moore.

Visitation was on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, September 10 at the Chapman Family Cemetery, Ivydale, with Rev. Jerry Bush officiating.
