The annual alumni gathering of all Clay County High School graduates will be held at the Clay County High School cafeteria on Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm in conjunction with the Golden Delicious Apple Festival (Sept 19,20,21). All graduates are asked to help spread the word by telephone, internet, facebook, etc. Please consider donating on items for the silent auction. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm. The dinner is sponsored by the Clay County Bank. Cost of the event per person is by donation. All proceeds go to the Alumni Scholarship Fund. If you are a graduate or have ever attended Clay County High School, please plan to attend and bring your spouse or friend. See you there! The C.C.H.S class of 1959 is planning a 55th class reunion on September 20, 2014. We have reserved the gym at the Clay Middle School (formerly C.C.H.S.). Our class president John Stone and wife Sharon Davis Stone are trying to contact our fellow classmates. Nancy Moore King, Patsy Holcomb White and Zelma Murphy Heater are assisting. We have planned to meet from 11:00am until? Refreshments will be available. We would like for our classmates to be together this day and then plan to attend an alumni meeting at 5:00pm at C.C.H.S. followed by a delicious meal provided by the Clay County Bank at 6:00pm. Donations accepted at the dinner will go to the C.C.H.S. Alumni Scholarship Fund. There will also be a silent auction at the dinner. A table will be reserved for our class to sit together. AARP Driver’s Safety Class August 7 & 8 at Braxton Senior Center in the Veteran’s Conference Room from 12 am to 4 pm both days. You must attend both days to complete certification. Class is open to the public, and you do not have to be an AARP member to take the class. Please call the Senior Center at 304-765-4090 or the instructor at 304-364-8494 to pre – register. You may register the first day of class, however those who have pre-registered will be given preference if space or materials becomes an issue. AARP members pay $15 and non-members will pay $20. Please present your AARP card and driver’s license when registering. No alcohol, drugs or tobacco permitted at the Senior Center.
Clay County Quilt Group is looking for new members. We meet the 2nd Saturday of every month in the basement of the library between 10:00 and 12:00. The first hour will be spent hand quilting a quilt that is already in the frame. The second hour will be devoted to piecing and sewing a new quilt block. Not interested in both, you choose which you want to do. We are a laid back group whose main focus is to have fun doing what we love to do.
