United Way of Central West Virginia serves an area of five counties, with Clay county being one. Every year, United Way hosts a Day of Caring where volunteers go out in the the communities of the five counties that it serves and they help complete a project.
United Way teamed up with several local organizations, and joined together for the Day of Caring project here in Clay County. The project for this year was to complete the trail bridge construction at the Swandale Trail Bridge to make it safe to walk across on the Buffalo Creek Trail. Many hours were spent and materials were donated to complete this project. The BDA provided lunch for all of the volunteer workers. Lunch was served at the Swandale Campground just a few miles past where the trail bridge was being worked on. It was a beautiful day, with nice weather and great food, which made accomplishing this project even more fun! Thank you to all of those who volunteered in any way. The trail is coming along nicely! Get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature this fall before winter hits!
