Russell Shamblin has retired from the Clay County School district last month after 32 years of service.

Russell Shamblin has retired after 32 years of service for the Clay County School district. He was employed from September 9, 1991 through January 6, 2023.

Russell started working full time for Clay County Schools as a mechanic, and during his 32 years of service Russell worked under transportation directors Russ Harper, Larry D. Legg, Michael Mullins, Joe Paxton, and upon retirement Jared Fitzwater. For superintendents he had Jim Dawson, Jerry Linkinoggor, Larry Gillespie, Kenneth Tanner, Joe Paxton, and Joan Haynie.

Shambin’s son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Shawna, had Kinsley Marie on Dec. 21, 2022.

Russell worked many days and long hours and was very dedicated to his job. There was a retirement dinner and party thrown in his honor on Jan. 4, 2023, with approximately 70 family members and friends in attendance. He will definitely be missed.

Also, as Russell retired, his son Jason and daughter-in-law Shawna welcomed him a beautiful granddaughter on Dec. 21, 2022 named Kinsley Marie.
