On August 29, Clay County Health Department received six additional lab confirmed positive COVID-19 cases. These cases bring Clay County’s total positive cases to 26 with 17 recovered cases, seven active cases, and two deaths. The second death was confirmed by the Clay County Health Department on August 25.

A press release from the department states, “As Clay County mourns this loss, let it serve as a reminder of the value of every life and the seriousness of this virus. Let us join together to protect each other by following all recommendations.”

The additional case investigations and contract tracings have been completed. Every contact identified needing to quarantine has been notified. All cases’ source has been identified.

Please remember you have power to protect yourself and lower your risk: social distance when you must be out, wear a mask, avoid crowds, washing your hands and/or use hand sanitizer, avoid touching your face, and follow CDC and WV DHRR’s guidelines.
