This English rock group from Manchester, was founded by Peter Noone in 1964. With a sort of tongue-in cheek vocal style and a jaunty beat, they were ranked as one of the most successful acts as part of the “British invasion”. They had two #1 hits and 9 singles in the top ten between 1964 and 1970. Session musicians that backed them up included Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. I know you remember this group.
