The Wallback Fishing Derby offered a chance for local students to participate in a design contest.

They offered cash prizes for a winning tee shirt design to promote the slogan “Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs.”  This design would be printed on hundreds of shirts that would distributed to the youth of Clay County that participated in the derby.

Two fifth graders at H.E. White elementary came up with great designs.  Zachary Rucker came in runner up and received $25, and Hollie Conley’s design won her $50 and 1st place in the contest.

The AMFM Charitable Foundation, Inc. began in 2009 with the objective to provide financial resources to improve and enrich the community in which each AMFM care center resides through charity. This group raises money for charitable organizations throughout West Virginia. They have raised over $500,000 that has been presented to local organizations throughout the state.

The latest donation of $1,000 was awarded to H.E. White Elementary School.  This donation was used to help with end of year activities, as well as providing backpacks and shoes for students to start the new school year.  Clay Health Care Center presented the fifth-grade students and principal, Jamela Krajeski, with the check in May.
