Local groups make sure everyone has a Merry Christmas this year

It’s the season for giving, and so many groups go above and beyond in our area- not just at Christmas- but throughout the year. Anything from helping families in need after emergency situations to making sure Clay County kids wake up to gifts under the tree at Christmas, local groups strive to help anyone who needs it.

The Clay County Catholic Church supplied food, stockings, and presents to local children at their annual toy drive.  Families drove up as volunteers greeted them with a box of nonperishable food, stockings, and gifts for their children. This event is one that helps make sure the children of Clay are fed and have gifts under the tree at Christmastime every year.

Another annual drive is the Clay County Mud Runners toy drive, where they also partner with local businesses.  This year Santa and Mrs. Claus handed out gifts at the Main Street Café during the Christmas Celebration. The Mud Runners go above and beyond for community members year-round, not just during holidays.  You can see them jumping into action anytime help is needed.  Their most recent fundraiser is helping Melissa Drake’s family bring her body home to lay to rest. You can contact them via Facebook to help in this matter.

It is the time to be thankful for small town organizations, friends, and family.  These are just two of the groups that you can always count on to make our county a better place.
