On Tuesday, September 1, the CAEZ, which is the Central Appalachian Empowerment Zone, held their annual meeting at the JG Bradley Campgrounds in Dundon. Guest speaker Bobby Lewis, USDA State Director was there. Awards were given to John Brown, Brian Holcomb and John Frame for their volunteer work on the Lodge.
During the annual meeting, there was an open house for the new JG Bradley Lodge. The Lodge isn’t completely finished yet, but will be complete by the 3rd weekend in September for the Golden Delicious Apple Festival. Executive Director for CAEZ, Connie Lupardus and office manager, Michelle Bodkins along with many contractors and volunteers, have put many hours into the renovation of the JG Bradley Lodge. The Lodge has many nice features along with a fireplace in the living area. The stones that were used in the fireplace were from the old iron bridge that stood many years ago. The dressers that are in the rooms at the Lodge are on loan from the Henry Clay Hotel. Soon there will be five cabins built and currently, there are RV sites available for use with water, electric and sewer hookups! If you would like to book a room or rent an RV space, call 304-587-2034 or 304-545-5829!
