Students and their families chowed down on chuckwagon chili, get along little doggies, trail mix, country fruit, and from the ranch milk.

On Tuesday, November 7, the Clay Afterschool Program (CAP) and Clay Elementary partnered to provide a wild west-themed Family Literacy night.

Parents and family members joined their students for a downright delicious meal of chuckwagon chili, get along little doggies, trail mix, country fruit, and from the ranch milk. Then everyone enjoyed a night of fun activities in CAP—dancing with Mrs. Metheney and Mrs. Woods, reading Bubba the Cowboy Prince with Mrs. Nine and Ms. Salisbury, solving problems with VersaTiles in math with Mrs. Nottingham, and creating their very own sheriff’s badges and cowboy boots with Mrs. Phillips. Families also had the opportunity to round up some great books for reading when they visited the school book fair.  Thank you to all the families who came out to enjoy a rootin’ tootin’ good time!

Mrs. Phillips and a student enjoyed the hoedown!
Families helped their students create their very own sheriff’s badges.
Serious readers were “Wanted” for pictures by Mrs. Krajeski.
