The county commission held its regular session for the second time this month on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. The normal agenda items were passed quickly so the new items on the agenda could be discussed and passed.
The motion to approve a budget revision for the office of Sheriff-Law Enforcement was approved. The confirmation to probate the Last Will and Testaments of Andrew K. Truman and the appointment of Jennifer L. Nuttier, Administratrix CTA, as well as for Irene May Cantrell, deceased and the appointment of Charles E. Cantrell, Executor were approved. Kathryn R. Holcomb was approved for the appointment of the estate of Sally Ann Holcomb, deceased. The request of Waiver of Final Settlement for the estates of Lawrence D. Hinkle, Bobby Dale Mullins, Alice G. West and Herbert Estel West was approved. Sheriff Garrett Samples was released as Curator of the estate of Bethel Carol Nichols, deceased.
Rebecca Adkins’ employment status was approved for change from part-time custodian to full-time custodian, effective September 1, 2015. Pamila Runnion was approved for hire as a part-time custodian, which is also effective September 1, 2015, pending a successful background check and drug screen. Tabitha Thompson will be a substitute part-time custodian, with the successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
William Lee Adkins was hired to pick up and hold stray dogs for a period of at least five days before transferring to an animal shelter. He will be paid $25 per dog, effective September 1, 2015 pending successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
The request by the Clay County Business Development Authority (BDA) to remove William Belt as a board member due to non-attendance was approved. Amanda Shelton was appointed as a member of the Clay County Board of Health for a term expiring July 1, 2019.
The meeting was then moved into recess until 1:00 pm for an estate hearing.
The next scheduled county commission meeting will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:00 am in the county commission room at the courthouse.
