County Commission holds final February meeting

Clay County Commission held their last February meeting on the 22nd. The previous meeting minutes were approved, as well as the bills and purchase orders as presented.

A motion to approve the waiver of final settlement for the estates of Hazel Leah Stover and Mildred white McKenzie, deceased, was approved. A motion to approve the appointment of Aaron Meadows Hamilton, administratrix of the estate of Darby Glen Hamilton, deceased, was approved. A motion to approve the appointment of Oscar L. Sizemore, administrator of the estate of Jake W. Sizemore, deceased, was approved.

A motion to hire Kathleen Riffle as a part-time as needed EMT-B at the rate of $9.75 per hour, with no benefits, was approved. Employment was effective Feb. 22, pending a successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

After the action items were complete, committee reports were given. There will be a health fair on April 4 from 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the health department. The first 100 participants get their blood tests for free. Prostate tests are an additional $10.

The next meeting will be March 8, at 10 a.m. with a special hearing for those affected by the closure of Queen Shoals PSD.
