On January 25,2023, Clay County High School Freshman Katie Price finished her last round of chemo treatments at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.  Katie’s mom, Mandy Barker Price, has done an outstanding job of keeping everyone in the county posted and updated on her progress since May of 2022, when Katie was diagnosed with cancer and started her courageous journey.

“Journey, which seems to be a bad term to use, since a journey is usually chosen”, Mandy posts, speaking on one of her daughter’s daily updates.  A journey no one would ever choose to go through, but this young girl bravely continued this journey and has come out a winner today, January 27,2023.

At 10 a.m. last Friday, Katie bravely walked down the halls of Ruby Memorial, halls packed with family, doctors, and nurses, and rang that bell that signified that she has won this battle, she is finished with chemo, and ready to be home.

Months have been spent back and forth, away from family and friends, missing out on holidays and events.  The support of the county has been there through the past 8 months but today as you traveled through Clay County, family and friends lined the roadway to encourage, show their continuous support, and surround this special young lady with well wishes and love from this great community.

#ClayCountyStrong! Welcome home Katie!
