On February 26, the Clay Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for mutual aid, together with Birch River, to respond to a structure fire on the Clay/Nicholas county line, but both units were then advised that the alert was canceled, per Nicholas County, because it was a controled burn. E-87 & T-89 responded.

The Clay Volunteer Fire Department was also alerted for a vehicle fire in the 4000 block of Ovapa Road. FF Joseph Young was on the scene and advised Captain 2003 that the vehicle was fully involved, it was approximately two feet from a power pole and approximately six feet away from another vehicle. Units operated on the scene for about 45 minutes before returning to service. E-87 & E-86 Responded. No injuries were reported.
