Well, 2015 is now a year of the past, and there were many highs and lows in sports as cross country, volleyball and football rode off into the sunset yielding the playing field to basketball and wrestling.  CCHS wrestling brought in the New Year with a bang to start off 2016.  They entered the Pat Vance Invitational a little down in the ranks due to illness and other factors.  However, they fared pretty well. Brandon White, Ryan Stewart, and Brandon Stutler each came home with 2nd place finishes; a pretty good start to the New Year.  The team will travel to the Raleigh County Armory this weekend to grapple at one of the biggest wrestling events in the state next to the State Championships.  Approximately 40 teams from all over will be there to go head to head on the mats, and the CCHS team will make their presence known for sure.  The Lady Panthers are on a five game winning streak and will begin their five game home stretch Tuesday night against Calhoun County.  With momentum going their way, they will be a force to reckon with in 2016.  The CCHS Panther Basketball team will be on the road to take on the Huskies in what is sure to be a good one on Monday night and will be at home Friday night to take on the Eagles of Braxton.  The Lady Mustangs will be at Spencer Tuesday night, and the Mustangs will be on home turf taking on Spencer as well.  The CCMS wrestling team will also take on Spencer on the 9th of January.  Clay County sports fans wish all the teams the best in 2016.
