“It takes a village to raise a child.” We have all heard that saying. Well, it takes a village for a child in sports. Softball and baseball both started their 2022 season this month. What does that entail? You can tell its ball season by parents rushing to practice two or more times per week, and purchasing equipment and uniforms.
Each year teams are formed, field prepped, and uniforms purchased all by parents of players and volunteers, which can get pricy. Thankfully Clay County has some great local businesses who gladly donate to help take the financial load off of parents and coaches.
Clay County Major League Softball would like to thank their sponsors for the 2022 season, including Melody Cottrell of Clay Yak Rentals and Poca Valley Bank.
A special thank you to Jeff Braley of Ovapa for selling pork sausage, pulled pork sandwiches, fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, and deep fried peanut butter and jelly with all proceeds benefiting the Clay Major League Softball, his granddaughter, Gracie Cottrell’s team. When it comes to helping the community and his grandchildren, Mr. Braley is always eager to help.
Here’s to a great season and looking their best thanks to your sponsorship.
