The Braxton/Clay County Master Gardener members attended the Adopt-A-Highway Volunteer Appreciation Day.  This event is held the first Saturday in August each year.  The locations change to accommodate volunteers throughout the state.  This event was held this year at the Tamarack in Beckley.

The Master Gardeners have adopted a spot on Rt. 4 near the Nottingham Bridge. Cleanups are done twice a year, once in the spring and another in the fall.  Safety is of the outmost importance.  Safety videos must be completed the safety equipment is provided by the DOH.

During this event the members were treated to bingo games and an art class.  There were activities for children with bounce houses and other activities.  The kids were treated to prizes for their participation.  Bingo prizes were awarded and prizes were given for completing and presenting paintings.  A delicious lunch was served.

Groups were presented service awards.  Speeches were given by DOH personnel and gratitude was expressed to the volunteers for making West Virginia shine.

The Master Gardeners were presented a certificate for removing 1,450 pounds of litter since adoption.

From the Master Gardeners, thank you for your support!
