The Clay County Board of Education met on Monday, June 11, 2018. The meeting began with the regular action items to approve the agenda and the previous meeting minutes.
An memorandum of agreement with WVU Extenstion Office was approved for the amount of $18,473.00 for the 2018-2019 school year. Funding for the Clay County Library in the amount of $11,337.50 was approved for the 2018-2019 school year. The annual contract with Clay County Health Department in the amount of $5,000.00 for the 2018-2019 school year was approved.
An overnight/out of state trip for clay County High School FFA Students and Chaperones to travel to Springfield, MO, June 3, 2018 – June 9, 2018 was approved. An out of state/overnight trip for Skills USA electrical winner and chaperone to Louisville, Kentucky, June 26, 2018 to June 30, 2018 and help with expenses for National Competition was approved. An overnight/out of state trip for Clay County High School FBLA Students and Chaperones from June 27, 2018 to July 2, 2018 and expenses in the amount of $8,650.00 to travel to Baltimore, MD to participate in the National Leadership competition was approved. A request from the Clay County Middle School band in the amount of $3,260.00 to maintain the program at current levels and to begin to replace equipment was approved.
The employment of Wendy Skidmore as science teacher at Clay County Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Katelin Thomas Parker as Multi-categorical teacher at Clay County Middle School, pending certification was approved. The employment of Josselyn Kiser as Multi-categorical teacher at Clay Elementary School was approved. The employment of Andrea Littion as Multi-categorical teacher at Clay Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Julie Gross as a multi-categorical teacher at Big Otter Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Kathy Legg as cook for North Gate Summer Camp 2018 located at Clay County High school was approved. The transfer of Rebecca Boggs from teacher at Clay Elementary to Multi-Categorical/resource teacher at H.E. White Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Sherri Ramsey as multi-categorical/resource teacher at Lizemore Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Courtney Workman as Math Teacher at Clay County Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Rebecca Wiseman as English Language Arts Teacher at Clay Middle for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of Michael Kiser as English Language arts teacher at Clay Middle for the 2018-2019 was approved. The employment of Tara Grose as aide at Clay Elementary School to Pre-k Aide at Clay Elementary School for the 2018-2019 was approved. The transfer of Edna King from Aide from Clay Elementary School to a Kindergarten Aide at Big Otter Elementary was approved. Eric Legg was approved for the employment of Director of Special Education for the 2018-2019 school year. Greg Knopp and Luke Kleman were approved as assistant Football coaches at Clay Middle School. Frank Kleman and Brian Collins were approved as volunteer football coaches at Clay Middle School. The employment of Melody Hubbard as volunteer volleyball coach at Clay County Middle School was approved. The transfer of Cheri Burdette from aide at Clay Elementary to Literact Aide at clay elementary was approved. The employment of Stephanie Paxton as summer school reading specialist/interventionist grade k-5 was approved. The employment f Rheenetta Bennet (two nights per week) and Denise Leann Bennett (two nights per week) as after school STEM teachers at H.E. White Elementary School was approved. The employment of Jeffery Krauklis as After School Healthy Choices teacher (two nights per week) and Substitute teacher as needed at Lizemore Elementary was approved.
The transfer of Crystal Black from teacher at Clay Middle to Title I teacher at Clay Elementary was approved. The employment of Anissa Collins as head volleyball coach at Clay County High for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment/transfer of Terri Shaffer from aide at Clay Middle to Autism Mentor at Clay Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. The employment of substitute bus operators, pending certification and drug testing was approved; Daniel Baird, David Bearfield, Danny Berry, Bryan Taylor, Brenda Townsend. The employment of substitute aides, pending certification was approved; Judy Grose, Sarah Faulkner, Pam Street, Jessica Stone, Madison Perdue, Shanna Paige. The resignation of Connie Kerr as afterschool teacher for the 2018-2019 school year at Clay High School was approved.
