It was ground and pound night for the CCMS Mustangs as they butted heads with a tough Blennerhassett Bobcat team. The Mustangs continued their dominating ground and pound style of football. The Bobcats have never been hit as hard as they were on Thursday night as the QB was having a difficult time getting up after being hit with the Kayden Hersman express train.
The Mustangs went to work early in the game putting points on the board. With a team like the Bobcats, a team never knows when they will explode on the field and turn real estate into points. The Mustangs’ ground and passing game, combined with superb blocking from the front line, took the game to the next level, and the Bobcats just couldn’t get past the shock as to just how good the Mustangs really were.
The Mustangs were already at 8-0 when I got to the game and soon added another 8 after a Collins run for the money. The Mustang defense commanded the game in the first half and didn’t let the Bobcats breathe on offense; it was in your face, bone crushing action. By half time, the Mustang offense racked up 22 points to lead the game 22-0. The Bobcats were completely discombobulated as they tried to gather their senses after being beat down. Once the halftime highlights were over, the Bobcat team must have been threatened with no Christmas presents because they came out swinging in the 3rd quarter getting two TDs on the board pretty quickly. It must have been a gift by the Mustang defense, a defense that was tenacious, ripping, chewing and spitting on any offense the Bobcats could muster.
The offensive line of the Mustangs controlled the defensive line of the Bobcats and opened up some big holes for running backs Lathan Brown and Joel Elliot. Cooper Collins was given enough time to throw passes like a stork drops babies. When they were done, the final score was Mustangs 34, Bobcats 18. It was a good game leading into the game this week against Summersville on Wednesday. This will be a tough one for the Mustangs, but they should be ready. Mustang defense proved once again that if you’re going to run against them, be prepared to lose.
