The Buffalo Creek Rail Trail will open for the 2019 season on April 13, don’t miss your chance to see the breathtaking scenery!

The Buffalo Creek Trail in Dundon is ready to start its 2019 touring season.

This beautiful scenic trail was designed in 2015 by the Buffalo Creek Watershed Improvement Association and the Clay County Business Development Authority.  This recreational attraction was designed to create interest in the trail and bring tourists to Clay county.

When the flood of June 2016 set this project back, many volunteers showed their support by clearing a six-mile section of the trail.  In 2018, they added a rail excursion train and railbikes.  This breathtaking tour takes you on a 12-mile round trip journey with some amazing views. You can see some very unique rock formations, waterfalls, and many of West Virginia’s active wildlife.

This trail is perfect for individuals who love to set back and relax, taking in all that nature has to offer.  Great for a few or a group, with special school group rates being offered this touring season. To qualify for the school rate, you need 20+ people, including students and/or chaperones. Any 12th grade student can ride the trail for $15, and all adults not in school ride for $20.

Reservations are filling up fast, don’t miss your chance to ride the Buffalo Creek Trail and experience the views for yourself.  Call 304-618-7992 to make reservations or visit www.buffalocreektrail.com for more information and to book your trip. The season starts April 13, and they are open Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday).

The summer schedule is as follows: Three trips daily at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. Merchandise can be purchased as well, and is all made or bought locally in Clay County.
