SALLISAW, Oklahoma- According to police, Misty VanHorn of Sallisaw, Okla. tried (unsuccessfully) to sell her kids on Facebook. VanHorn was willing to sell her two children for $4,000 as a package deal, or for $1,000 apiece (I’ll let you do the math). She was apparently trying to collect funds to pay her boyfriend’s bail.
SPRINGFIELD, Oregon- One of Aurora Kephart’s regulars at Conway’s Restaurant and Lounge in Springfield often tips her with Keno tickets from the Oregon Lottery. On Tuesday evening, the man who wishes to remain anonymous asked Kephart to choose two. When she checked the numbers, Kephart’s first ticket won $5. The second turned into a $17,500 gratuity.
DENVER, Colorado- A man accused of driving around Denver with a dead friend in the back of a car and running up a bar tab on the friend’s account says he thought the man was drunk, not deceased. Robert Young, 43, faces charges including abusing a corpse.
BUFFALO, New York- Sonya Thomas, dubbed the Black Widow, scarfed down 181 chicken wings in 12 minutes to be crowned the winner at the 10th annual National Buffalo Wing Festival, in Buffalo, NY on Sunday. At about 5 feet in height and barely weighing over 100 lbs, the 43-year old looks like she doesn’t have an ounce of fat on her.
IOWA CITY, Iowa- Daniel P. Noehl Sr., 57, thought otherwise. Noehl was arrested Sunday after he called police to report he had not been paid in an illegal drug deal, the Press-Citizen reported. Noehl allegedly gave a friend three prescription pill bottles. About 230 pills total, with the agreement that he was to be paid $1.25 per pill. After getting grifted, Noehl called police, and then called at least three more times to find out what was taking so long, according to police.
