Friday afternoon, Clay County High School held their annual Veteran’s Day Program in honor of all Veterans, especially those from Clay County. This year, the Patriot Guard attended the program and formed an entrance to the gym to honor the members of Clay County’s VFW post 4419, who also received a standing ovation as they entered the gym.
Two members of the armed forces, PVT Robert Daniels and PVT Brenden Lesher then led everyone in the pledge of allegiance, while students unfolded the American Flag. Then, the meaning of each of the 13 folds was explained, something not many know. The chorus/spectrum sang several songs during the program. Chaplain Jim Mitchell with the WV State Police spoke with honoring remarks, as well as Buddy Palla with the Patriot Guard. There was also a video of yearbook pictures of Veterans who attended CCHS & Mrs. Isaacs spoke the roll call for Clay High Alumni and which war they were killed in action. The program concluded by a candle light service with the senior class and the band playing Amazing Grace. Thank you to ALL Veterans for your dedication and service to our country!
