The Staff of the Public Service Commission of West Virginia has reviewed the pending application of Gauley River Public Service District to increase its water rates and charges to cover increased operating expenses and has recommended that the Public Service Commission approve increased rates and charges designed to produce approximately $70,568 annually in increased revenue, an increase of 6.16%. The District’s current rates and the Staff recommended increased rates are set forth in Appendix A (Notice of Application to Change Rates) to the Procedural Order entered on November 5, 2013 in Case No. 13-1040-PWD-19A, a copy of which is attached hereto. The Notice of Application to Change Rates will be published in newspapers of general circulation in the Counties of Fayette, Nicholas and Clay.
Anyone desiring to protest the Staff recommended increased rates and charges must do so, in writing, within ten (10) days of the publication of the District’s Notice of Application to Change Rates. All protests should be addressed to the Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, P.O. Box 812, Charleston, West Virginia 25323. Protests must be specific as to the reasons that the recommended increased rates and charges should be modified. Anyone desiring a hearing in this matter must demand a hearing in their letter of protest. If no substantial protest is filed, the Staff recommended rates may be approved without hearing.
